Theodore Weldon, Executive General Manager – Development, within the Americas region, oversees the successful execution and delivery of Lendlease’s Chicago development projects. He is also responsible for managing the continued growth of the development business in the Chicago market through pursuing and identifying urban regeneration projects, while also supporting Lendlease’s development efforts nationally.

Mr. Weldon’s nearly 30 years of experience in developing real estate includes executive roles for Sailrock Development Limited, Related Midwest (formerly LR Development Company) and, most recently,for Lendlease Development Inc.

Mr. Weldon joined Lendlease in November 2015 as Acquisitions Director, responsible for the Lakeshore East development, which includedoverseeing the master planning, entitlement process, and predevelopment of the project.In addition, hewas instrumentalin the advancement of Lendlease’s other two Chicago developments; Southbank and 845 West Madison. In October 2018,Mr. Weldon was promoted to Senior Vice President and Project Director of both the Lakeshore East and Southbank developments.

Prior to Lendlease, Weldon served as the Director of Development for Sailrock Development. He was responsible for all aspects of the 2,400-acre Sailrock Resort Development, including the creation of the resort structure and vision, the development of the master plan (including villas, condominiums, golf course, marina and hotels, as well as historical preservation), securing government approvals, and overseeing budgeting, marketing, sales, architecture, and design. Weldon joined the Sailrock development after ten years at Related Midwest, where he was a partner and Senior Vice President, Director of Development. Prior to joining Related Midwest, Mr. Weldon worked in the real estate industry for nine years, overseeing the management and re-development of several “class C” office buildings and managing several new construction and rehab residential developments in the Chicago Area. He began his career as a consulting actuary for Hewitt Associates.

Mr. Weldon graduated with distinction from Carleton College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics and graduated with Master of Science Degree in Statisticsfrom the University of Iowa. He also is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary (inactive).

Mr. Weldon serves on the board of the Chicago Metropolitan Housing Development Corporation and the Chicago Architecture Biennial; he also serves as an Executive Advisors Member of Metropolitan Planning Council.He is a pastboard president of SOS Children’s Villages Illinois (2003-2007); board member of the Pilsen/Rauner YMCA (2003-2010); and member of the Turks & Caicos Governor’s Advisory Board (2013-2015).
