Sandy is the office operating partner and co-chair of the New York Real Estate Group. For more than 25 years, she has acted as a strategic legal and business advisor to leading owners and investors on their most transformative industrial, office, retail, and mixed-use transactions, helping her clients to achieve their business priorities. Sandy’s clients turn to her for counsel on complex purchase and sale agreements, leasing, and the operation and management of portfolios across the country. She has advised influential players in the commercial real estate sector in capital transactions in excess of $1 billion in the last two years, and represented high-profile landlords and tenants in leasing more than one million square feet of office, industrial, and retail assets.
Marquee projects include representing the purchaser in a complex 30-property portfolio acquisition of retail, office, and industrial properties located in Arizona and California for over $470 million; counseling the developer of a 300,000-square-foot shopping center in Northern California, including the negotiation of leases with Kohl’s, Nordstrom Rack, Babies “R” Us, and DSW shoes; and advising on a retail project in Austin, Texas, including closing leasing transactions with Best Buy, Staples, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and PetSmart.
Her practice encompasses the following areas:
Purchase and Sale. Sandy represents global and national asset managers, investment funds, and other buyers and sellers in single-asset and portfolio commercial transactions, with an emphasis on industrial and logistics projects, as well as multifamily properties.
Leasing. Sandy advises landlords and tenants in the negotiation and drafting of office, industrial, and retail leasing transactions, as well as ground leases. She has particularly extensive experience representing institutional owners and anchor and other tenants in the retail space.
Development. In addition to her transactional practice, Sandy has helped her clients develop over one million square feet of office, industrial, and other commercial spaces. Her experience includes negotiating construction contracts, development agreements, reciprocal easement agreements, CC&Rs, and other ancillary documents.
Widely respected for the depth of her experience and industry insight, Sandy serves in leadership positions for key real estate organizations such as the Urban Land Institute’s Women’s Leadership Initiative, and she is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. She is routinely invited to speak on the state of the market and trends impacting the real estate sector at leading industry events on both the West and East Coast.
