Sally Gilliland is Chief Operating Officer of the Hudson Companies, a residential developer based in New York City. Additionally she is the Chair of Broadway Builders, a general construction company building and renovating apartment buildings in New York. She is a leader in both companies who has deep experience in both real estate development and construction.
Sally joined Hudson in 2001 after working as Project Architect for Kohn Pederson Fox, and then Beyhan Karahan Architects over 15 years. She because a Principal at Hudson in 2015. As a Principal and COO of the Hudson companies she is critical to Hudson’s daily operations and project oversight, as well as long term strategy. Her particular focus on Hudson’s projects is overseeing the architecture and engineering process throughout the design and construction of Hudson’s projects.
Sally is one of the original owner/founders of Broadway Builders which was established in 2015. Broadway Builders is certified as a Women Owned Business in New York City. In her role as Chair of Broadway Builders she is responsible for the financial oversight of the company, as well as day to day management of operations.
She is an expert in housing design across many platforms both market rate and affordable. She brings her passion for the field and her vision for creating the best possible homes for all people to all projects. A central focus of her work is improving the livability and architectural character of New York City, which is where most of her work has been concentrated.
Sally graduated from Trinity College with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History, studied at the Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies in New York City, and received a Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University. She became a licensed architect in 1992. She serves on the board of the Citizens Housing and Planning Council and is a member of the AIA.
