Roger Cozzi is Chief Investment Officer for Commercial Real Estate Debt in AllianceBernstein’s Real Estate Investment Group. From 2008 to 2012, he served as chief executive officer at Gramercy Capital Corp., an NYSE-listed REIT, where he was responsible for repositioning and recapitalizing a $7.9 billion balance sheet consisting of more than 1,000 net lease investments, $3 billion in commercial real estate collateralized debt obligations with $2.2 billion of whole loans and subordinate investments and $800 million in commercial mortgage-backed securities. Before that, Cozzi was a managing director at Fortress Investment Group, where he was responsible for commercial mortgage investments. From 1998 to 2007, he held various senior-level positions, including chief investment officer and co-head of the Investment Committee at iStar Financial, an NYSE-listed REIT, where he successfully priced, structured and originated approximately 60 transactions totaling over $3 billion in first mortgages and subordinate positions. Prior to that, Cozzi spent more than five years evaluating commercial mortgages for principal investments at Starwood Capital Group and Goldman Sachs. He holds a BSE in economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
