Paul DeCain serves as President of Aventon where he is responsible for investment and corporate strategy, transaction capitalization, corporate finance, business expansion, acquisitions and asset management. Prior to forming Aventon as one of the three founding members, Mr. DeCain served for eight years as the Chief Investment Officer and a Principal with the Bainbridge Companies, a national vertically integrated, institutional multifamily operation. During his tenure with Bainbridge, Mr. DeCain closed over $2.7 billion of transactions comprised of $1.7 billion of ground-up developments and $1.1 billion of acquisitions and involving 40 separate multifamily transactions and 50 apartment properties with over 15,000 apartment units. Under Mr. DeCain’s finance and capital markets stewardship, Bainbridge secured over $1 billion of equity from endowments, foundations, family offices, pensions and foreign investors, and over $1.7 billion of construction/acquisition loans from banks, insurance cos. and the agencies to fuel its rapid growth to becoming the 16th largest multifamily developer nationwide and a leading national apartment acquirer/owner. Prior to joining Bainbridge, Mr. DeCain was a Managing Director for Eastdil Secured/Wells Fargo (and a predecessor firm, Wachovia Capital Markets) focused on real estate equity investments and investment banking, and a Senior Partner with Arthur Andersen where he co-led the firm’s real estate advisory business. Mr. DeCain began his career with LaSalle Partners working as an analyst in the firm’s Development Group. Mr. DeCain received his MBA from Dartmouth’s Tuck School and his Bachelor of Science from Lehigh University. Mr. DeCain passed the CPA at the outset of his career.
