Neil McKinnon
President & CEO
Prana Investments

A proven real estate executive, Neil McKinnon has 28 years of industry-leading bottom line success by providing general management oversight for a broad range of complex multi-hundred million dollar private and public investment portfolios, encompassing commercial retail, office and residential income properties.

Equally comfortable in high growth multi-billion dollar international investment settings and smaller, closely held niche market driven environments, Neil has identified and pioneered under-valued market segments and implemented the financing, redevelopment and exit strategies to best exploit them.

A Stanford University undergraduate, Neil began his career in private banking with Bank of America. Upon the completion of his MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, in 1984, Neil joined Richard Ellis, Inc. (later the Yarmouth Group Inc.), a New York-based international institutional real estate management firm

Over the next decade, working with a team challenged to establish the firm’s initial presence in the U.S. commercial real estate market, Neil played a key role in virtually every aspect of an aggressive acquisition, asset and portfolio management program that resulted in the creation of a high quality portfolio of shopping centers, office buildings and hotels.

In 1996 Neil joined Prana Investments, a San Francisco based real estate fund management firm Neil serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer for this specialized multi-family residential real estate investment management firm targeting properties in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York City. Over the past 15 years Prana’s assets under management have grown from $50 million to over $500 million while maintaining strong returns to its investors.
