Nathan S. Collier is the founder, chairman and owner of The Collier Companies – A captive multi-family owner, manager, developer with over 13,000 Apartment Homes, laser focused on its 2X Challenge: Doubling in size in the coming decade via new development. The Collier Companies currently has over two and half billion dollars in assets under management through 50+ communities in Florida with additional holdings in Georgia.
Supporting education is a passion for Nathan. In 2006, Nathan endowed the Nathan S. Collier Master of Science in Real Estate program at the University of Florida and teaches case studies every year. Nathan also teaches the principals of Real Estate Development, Finance and Investment at UF’s Warrington School of Business and delivered the 2010 and 2018 commencement speeches. He also teaches a course at UF’s Levin College of Law, where he previously earned his Juris Doctorate degree. Furthermore, Nathan regularly leads a 10-week long program within TCC called Collier College sharing the intricacies of real estate investing as well as the life management soft skills necessary to be successful in any field of life such as emotional intelligence, critical thinking skills, decision making, goal setting, time/energy management, systems thinking, negotiation, communication, coaching, , motivation, influence and persuasion.
In 2019, Nathan S. Collier founded The Collier Prize for State Government Accountability through the University of Florida College Of Journalism and Communications. The Collier Prize is awarded each year at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in Washington DC and is designed to encourage increase in transparency and honesty via investigative journalism on state government. Nathan also serves as a member of the Board of Overseers of the Columbia Journal Review, a media watchdog affiliated with Columbia University focused on supporting a free press worldwide.
Additionally, Nathan is the author of ‘Construction Funding’, a textbook published by John Wiley & Sons, now in its 4th edition. Nathan also blogs twice weekly on the relentless pursuit of becoming our best selves more often; always with the tagline “sharing what I most want and need to learn”. In addition to teaching civil engineering for decades at the University of Florida, Nathan’s father also served for eighteen years as a part time citizen City Commissioner of Gainesville, Florida. Court Collier was a true steward of the people, a humble servant leader, a calm, patient, gentle, kind man.
Nathan founded The Collier Companies with the intent to create a different kind of workplace – one that treated both Customers and Team Members with respect, fostering a true sense of community, encouraged and supported ongoing and continuous personal and professional growth, a place where smiles and laughter thrived side by side with excellence and productivity.
