As Chief Investment Officer, Mike Altman oversees the firm’s asset-level investments with a focus on capital raising and structuring. Mike joined Cortland in 2007 as a development associate and played an instrumental role in growing the company, becoming Executive Vice President, Investments in 2010 before assuming his current role in 2013.

Over the course of his career with Cortland, Mike has overseen the acquisition of over 65,000 apartment units. In addition to his experience, Mike is a member of Harvard Business School’s Program for Leadership Development, an accelerated education program for high-potential executives.

Mike holds his master’s degree in Real Estate from Georgia State University and his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from The University of Georgia. He is a licensed real estate broker and is associated with the Atlanta Multifamily Network and the U.S. Green Building Council.
