Laurie Golub joined HFZ Capital Group as its General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer in May, 2012. During her tenure, HFZ more than tripled in size and emerged as one of the most active developers of luxury residential properties, managing and developing over 5 million square feet of real estate and bringing more than 2,000 luxury residential condominiums to market. LG (as she is known) has over 25 years of experience in handling complex real estate and corporate transactions, and possesses a broad base of legal knowledge and business acumen with respect to real estate development, finance and capital markets, construction, acquisitions and sales, leasing, investor relations, operation of mixed-use properties, and major league sports.

Prior to joining HFZ, Ms. Golub was General Counsel and Managing Director of Business Affairs at Africa Israel, USA. LG was invaluable in putting AFI USA back on the map. She was a major player in restructuring the debt of AFI USA’s largest assets — the Times Square Building, the Clock Tower and the Miami Marquis — and oversaw the sale of the Times Square Building Office Condo, the Clock Tower and 88 Leonard Street.

Prior to joining AFI USA, Ms. Golub served as Associate General Counsel to Forest City Ratner Companies where she played a critical role in all pre-development activities of the $5 billion Atlantic Yards & Brooklyn Arena redevelopment project. She negotiated and closed the acquisition of the New Jersey Nets basketball franchise, provided general counsel services to New Jersey Nets senior management, and led negotiations for the $400 million Barclays Center naming rights.

Ms. Golub earned a JD from New York University School of Law and her BS from Boston University, where she was Magna Cum Laude and a Rhodes Scholar Nominee. In addition to being named Real Estate Weekly’s Most Influential Woman in Real Estate for 2012, she was also named one of Real Estate Forum’s 2015 & 2010 Women of Influence, one of Bisnow’s 2014 Most Powerful Women in Commercial Real Estate and The Real Deal’s 2014 Most Powerful Women in Real Estate. Ms. Golub resides in Manhattan and is mother to beautiful 4-year old Jayda Jynx (“JJ”) Golub.
