John Clarkson is a Managing Director for Greystar Development Services, where he oversees all conventional, student, and active adult housing development activity in the Mid-Atlantic Division, which includes New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

Before joining Greystar in 2019, John was a Senior Vice President with JBG Smith Properties, where he led mixed-use development projects within the Washington DC metropolitan area. Prior to JBG Smith, he was Vice President of Acquisitions and Finance for Perseus Realty, a Washington DC-based development firm. John began his career as an Analyst with the JBG Companies. He is a board member of Communities in Schools of Northern Virginia and the DC Real Estate Group, and a member of the Urban Land Institute — Transit Oriented Development Product Council.

John received his bachelor’s of arts degree in History and Spanish from Vanderbilt University and his Master’s of Business Administration from Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina.
