James currently serves as Vice President of Development at Fairfield Residential, a national multi-family development and investment company based in San Diego, CA. Fairfield is majority owned by the California State Teachers Retirement System (“CalSTRS”). James joined the firm in 2014 and leads the land acquisition, entitlement, and development activities of Fairfield’s $1.3B development multi-family pipeline in Southern California.

Prior to joining Fairfield, James was the Vice President of Development at Tooley Interests, a family office based in Santa Monica, CA. James also managed apartment development and acquisition activities for 6 years at Pacific Urban Residential, Summerhill Homes and Hanover Financial, all subsidiaries of the Marcus & Millichap Holding Company in Palo Alto, CA.

James holds a Master of Construction Management from University of Southern California, a Master of Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University, and a Bachelor of Arts from University California Berkeley.
