Helen Nitkin co-founded HB Nitkin, a real estate investment, development and management company with her late husband Bradley. In 2009 after his death, Helen assumed the position of chairman, having made a commitment to carry forward her husband’s legacy as well as maintain the team of professionals that were equally dedicated to the future of the company.

A guiding principle of the firm is to value the professionals, tenants and communities with whom we work with and seek to maintain our properties to the highest standards in any given market. HB Nitkin carries these values forward in all aspects of our business.

The firm owns a portfolio of commercial, medical and multi-family residential real estate located throughout Connecticut and lower Westchester County NY. One of the firm’s most recent projects is the completion of a large-scale mixed-use project in Hartford, CT structured as a public/private partnership with the State of Connecticut. The development consists of restaurant/entertainment venues, two apartment buildings and the site of the UConn downtown campus. This multi-phase development has brought new vitality to the area and is a catalyst for the transformational for the city and the capital of the state.

In the early1980’s Helen and her late husband began investing in real estate, initially in NYC and then in Connecticut. Prior to forming HB Nitkin, Helen worked as both a residential and commercial broker and for a developer who was a pioneer in the conversion of office buildings to residential.

Helen has held leadership positions in the real estate industry as the president of the Association of Real Estate Women and a board member of the Young Men’s/Women’s Real Estate Association. In addition to being a member of Women’s President Organization, her most recent involvement is as a founding board member of the Women’s Enterprise Action Loan Fund, a non-profit organization that provides loans and mentoring to women entrepreneurs and as a board member of Aperture Foundation, a publisher and center for the photo community.

Helen holds a master’s degree in Urban Planning from New York University.

In addition to her professional affiliations, Helen’s two children Sophie and Andrew have entered the real estate profession.
