Gordon Buist is the Chief Operating Officer with Abdo Development, LLC. Abdo Development is a District of Columbia development and construction company that specializes in luxury residential, hospitality and retail development.
To date, the company has completed over thirty development projects. Many of these developments include distressed historic structures that require complete restoration and conversion. Abdo also develops new buildings that are built with the same quality and attention to detail as its historic properties.
Abdo Development has received critical acclaim from within the community and the press for its responsible approach to development and is considered a leader in the renewal of Washington’s historic districts.
Gordon is an instrumental leader for Abdo Development in project acquisition, contract negotiation, debt and equity negotiation and project supervision for all real estate projects. In addition, Gordon is responsible for all financial aspects of the Company.
Prior to his tenure with Abdo Development, Gordon spent approximately 7 years with Aronson & Company a top 50 accounting firm in the nation and named a top 10 Accounting and Consulting Firm by the Washington Business Journal. Gordon was a Senior Manager in the Audit and Accounting practice during his tenure with Aronson & Company. He specialized in the real estate industry, working with real estate developers, property managers and specialty finance companies.
Prior to his public accounting career, Gordon worked with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman managing the 100 Professional Corporations that were partners to the partnership.
Gordon is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and has been a member of the District of Columbia Builders Industry Association.
Gordon earned a Masters of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in finance from East Carolina University. He is a Certified Public Account in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
