George C. McNee III is a Director and principal with AEW Capital Management. He is based in the Los Angeles and has primary responsibly for sourcing, negotiating and underwriting multifamily, student housing, and mixed-use investment opportunities throughout the Western United States. In addition, he serves as Co-CIO for the AEW’s Essential Housing Fund which is a new open-ended vehicle seeking to create and preserve essential housing throughout the U.S.

In his 19 years at AEW, George has closed on over $5 billion in real estate, including more than 25,000 apartment units, via both direct and joint-venture equity investment including ground-up development, value-added repositioning, and stabilized core investments.

Overall, George has more than 25 years of real estate experience encompassing acquisitions, market research, development, asset management and consulting. Prior to joining AEW in 2004, he was Vice President of Multifamily Investments with the SARES-REGIS Group in Irvine, California. He began his real estate career in 1997 with Charles Dunn Real Estate Services.

George is a graduate of the University of Colorado (B.S. in Finance), Loyola Marymount University (M.B.A.), and Loyola Law School (J.D.). He is a licensed Real Estate Broker, a member of the National Multi-Housing Council and a member of the Urban Land Institute. He is also a licensed attorney and a member of the California Bar Association.
