Don Smith, Director, Head of Transactions (East) within BlackRock’s Real Estate Equity Group. Mr. Smith is responsible for all aspects of the Firm’s transaction activity throughout the Eastern United States including acquisitions and dispositions of investments on behalf of various accounts of the Firm.

Mr. Smith has 14 years of real estate experience and his service with the firm dates back to 2006. During his career, Mr. Smith has worked on the acquisition of 25 investments with a combined value of $1.9 billion. In addition, he has overseen over $700 million in property dispositions. Mr. Smith has worked on direct property acquisitions, as well as joint venture partnerships. Mr. Smith’s investment focus has been on office, retail, industrial, multi-family, and single family product types across the risk/return spectrum including core, value-add, and opportunistic strategies. Prior to joining BlackRock in 2006, Mr. Smith worked for Largo Capital in their mortgage banking origination group in Toronto.

Mr. Smith earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Clarkson University in 2001, and an MBA from Clarkson University in 2005.
