Ashby Johnson is the Executive Director of the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) which is the metropolitan planning organization for the six-county central Texas region and has served in that capacity since 2014. Ashby also served as the Deputy MPO Director at the Houston-Galveston Area Council.

Ashby is currently the vice chair of the American Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations (AMPO) He is also on the Executive Committee of the Transportation Research Board and the Texas Association of MPOs. Ashby recently became the recipient of the Texas Department of Transportation’s 2021 Texas Road Hand Award for his hard work in contributing to the development of the regionwide transportation planning network in Central Austin and projects of significance such as the I-35 Capital Express Project.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Government and a Masters in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Texas at Austin.
