Alex Twining, the Founder and CEO of Twining Properties, is a trailblazer in the real estate investment and development sector. Specializing in mixed-use, transit-oriented projects, he has masterminded developments like the 6.3MSF Seaport Square in Boston and the 8MSF Colgate Center in NYC.
Under his leadership, Twining Properties acquires urban mixed-use properties at transit nodes in the Northeast. Alex created the Watermark urban apartment brand with over 1,500 apartments in five towers in top locations in Boston including Seaport Square, Kendall Square and Central Square and in NYC, Watermark LIC. The company is currently developing a four-block waterfront project in Westchester and a million square foot development of a old Winchester Factory biotech lab space, apartments and retail.
Prior to this, Alex served as CEO of MetroNexus, a Morgan Stanley Company, where he managed a 3MSF portfolio and oversaw $3 billion in complex development investments ranging from the 25,000 acre Woodlands in Texas to the 3MSF North Bridge in Chicago. He also launched AvalonBay’s high-rise luxury apartment business and attracted Goldman Sachs to Colgate Palmolive’s $4B Colgate Center.
A ULI Trustee & Governor, he sits on the Yale School of Architecture Dean’s Council and has guest lectured at Columbia, MIT, NYU and Yale. Twining holds both a BA and MArch from Yale University.
