DANIEL T. ALTMAN is Co-Managing Partner of the firm and serves as Co-Chair of the firm’s Transactional Department. In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of the firm, Dan leads a team of 21 highly skilled transactional attorneys who represent clients in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions. These include the purchase, sale, leasing, and financing of shopping centers, office buildings, and multifamily properties across the United States.

Dan handles complex commercial transactions involving Tenancy-in-Common (TIC) agreements, joint venture agreements, equity participations, and purchase and sale agreements. He also advises clients on sophisticated mortgage and mezzanine financing structures for properties and developments.

With more than 30 years of experience, Dan is a seasoned leasing and transactional attorney known for his strong deal-making mindset. Since 2010, he has represented one of the world’s fastest-growing international “fast casual” restaurant brands, guiding them from a small startup to a public company by applying creative deal strategies and innovative real estate solutions. In addition, he became a “go to” attorney for many up and coming hospitality brands including Dishoom, Tacombi, Cha Cha Matcha, and Shake Shack.

Dan has drafted and negotiated a wide range of leases including store, office, retail, triple net, ground, telecommunications, and loft leases on behalf of both owners/developers and tenants. His work spans hundreds of thousands of square feet in office buildings, malls, strip centers, and residential and commercial properties nationwide.

His client base includes publicly traded REITs, top-tier international restaurant brands, family-run generational real estate offices, commercial real estate brokers, private equity funds, and ground-up developers, both nationally and locally.

Dan has been with the firm since 1990. He earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Albany.

Dan has been repeatedly recognized by both Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers. He has also served on the national board of directors of the Children’s Tumor Foundation since 2008.
