Daniel Marks Cohen works for the Apex Building Group as Senior Director of Development, he is responsible for sourcing and executing new affordable and market-rate real estate development projects in the greater New York market, and assisting in the project management of existing developments in the Apex portfolio. Dan previously served as a director of redevelopment at Livcor, a Blackstone company. Apex is a full-service general contracting, construction management and real estate development company with thirty years of experience in the new construction and gut rehabilitation of affordable mixed-use residential development.
Dan has a background in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors, having worked for ING Clarion Partners, the NYC Economic Development Corporation, the Community Preservation Corporation, and the Housing Partnership Development Corporation. He also founded and directed Burlingham Capital Partners, a real estate consulting and investment firm. Dan holds an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business, with over 25 years of real estate experience, he has a proven track record of identifying, underwriting, and implementing value-add projects. Dan is passionate about creating quality and affordable housing, advancing economic development, and serving his community.
Founded in 1997, Apex was established by Robert Horsford and Lee Brathwaite. To date, Apex has completed over $1.7 billion in construction projects, which has resulted in the creation or preservation of over 7,500 affordable housing units throughout New York and New Jersey.
