Steve Gorning is Managing Director of Development at Waypoint Residential. Based in the company’s Atlanta office, he is responsible for the acquisition, permitting, design and execution of ground-up Class A multi-family development throughout the southeast United States.

An accomplished real estate development professional, Gorning has more than 18 years of experience in accounting, finance, project management and development. Prior to joining Waypoint, he served as Vice President of Development at Lennar Multifamily Communities (LMC) in Atlanta, where he was responsible for multifamily developments and Georgia and Tennessee. Mr. Gorning was previously Vice President at Novare Group, also in Atlanta, where he was responsible for multifamily high-rise developments in Atlanta and Dallas. Prior to Novare, Mr. Gorning was a Development Manager with AvalonBay Communities based in the company’s northeast region office. Over the course his real estate career, he has been responsible for the development of over 5,000 apartment homes, with a total capitalization of over $1 billion. His projects and experience has included the development of mixed-use high-rise, mid-rise and garden multifamily communities in greater Boston, Washington DC, Atlanta, Nashville and Dallas.

Gorning received his Master of Business Administration from The George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy from Michigan State University.
