Steven Charno has served as President of Douglaston Development since joining the company in 2003. Mr. Charno has overseen the company’s various market rate residential development projects. During his tenure, Mr. Charno has directly run the development of more than 2,000 units of residential housing in Manhattan and Brooklyn, including luxury condominium development projects, as well as market rate rental and affordable housing projects.

Recently completed projects include:

509-unit market rate rental One North 4th Place
370-unit 80-20 rental OHM at 316 11th Avenue
335-unit Chelsea condominium, 555 West 23rd Street
250-unit condominium, 325 Fifth Avenue.

As a co-leader of the Executive Management team, Mr. Charno shares responsibility in the company’s investments strategy, retail leasing, asset management, personnel evaluation and compensation, and company policies.

Before joining Douglaston Development, Mr. Charno worked at the Related Companies and was Vice President and General Counsel for the development of the AOL Time Warner Center Project at Columbus Circle. Mr. Charno began his career as a transactional real estate attorney and was a partner and Executive Committee member of the San Francisco-based real estate firm of Landels Ripley and Diamond, LLP. Mr. Charno currently serves on the Housing and Land Use Committees of the Real Estate Board of New York.

Mr. Charno holds his B.A. from Brandeis University with Honors in English Literature and holds his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, where he was a member of the Law Review.
